Frederick James (Fred) Hoyle (14 December1918 – 11 February 1994) was the inaugural Archdeacon of Bolton.〔''Church news'' The Times (London, England), Wednesday, Feb 24, 1982; pg. 12; Issue 61166〕 He was educated at St John’s College, Durham and after wartime service during World War Two was ordained in 1949.
